General Statement of Duties: TheDiet Clerkprepares dietary information for use by kitchen personnel in preparation of foods for hospital patients.

Essential Job Functions: 1. Examines diet orders and menus received from hospital units and prepares tallies of specific foods to be prepared in the kitchen.

  1. Processes new diets and changes as required. Generates and edits tray tickets, assembles tray ticket packets, and enters data into computer.

  2. Modifies diets following standards established by Dietitian.

  3. Answers telephone calls and relays information concerning meal changes, complaints, or patient discharge to Supervisor or Dietitian.

  4. Prepares and delivers formula and special nourishments to unit pantries.

  5. Works trayline/tray accuracy as required for timely and accurate patient service.

*Minimum Education and Experience: * High School diploma or equivalent, supplemented by course work in nutrition; two years of experience in food service operations. Experience and education may be substituted for one another. Computer experience preferred.

Minimum License and Certificates Required:Food Handlers permit or must obtain during the first two weeks of hire date.
